What is stamped concrete? Nowadays, many people are aware of stamped concrete.

They know that the stamping process gives the elegant look of hand-laid stone, slate, or brick at a fraction of the cost of these materials. It has been around for decades and has become a mainstream treatment for anyone wanting more than just “plain gray concrete”.

 

So, what’s all the buzz about? Stamped concrete is awesome; it’s one of those home

remodelling trends that seems to be catching fire lately, and for good reason. The process

of laying stamped concrete is almost an art. A stamped concrete patio gives you the look and texture of stones, that can imitate brick, cobblestones, cracked earth, and weathered wood, for a lot less than the real thing — up to 50% less than the cost of natural slate or limestone.  

 

Best of all, a stamped concrete patio is low maintenance — the “stones” won’t settle over time, creating uneven surfaces, and there are no grout or joints that can open up to let grass and weeds sprout. Stamped concrete is simply a concrete slab with a textured, embossed surface. The contractor will pour and smooth the slab, pressing a pattern into the surface while the concrete is still wet and soft; and to add a special touch, add color to the concrete as it’s mixed, or spray it on after the surface has been stamped.
